NSE IPO Gets $10 Billion Bids at 42.9 Times Valuation
The NSE IPO attracted over $10 billion in bids as investors showed strong demand for India’s largest stock exchange listing. The $2.3 billion offering received bids for 505.81 million shares on Monday, making the issue 5.7 times subscribed against the 88.64 million shares available.
The strong response comes despite the NSE IPO valuation being considerably higher than the valuation multiples of major US exchange operators.
The NSE IPO attracts over $10 billion in bids largely on demand from institutional and high-net-worth investors. The exchange had already raised 67.5 billion rupees, or about $704 million, from anchor investors including the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and Life Insurance Corporation of India.
The offering is India’s biggest stock market listing of 2026 so far and the country’s second-largest IPO on record, behind Hyundai Motor India’s $3.3 billion issue in 2024. The NSE offering has been in preparation since 2016.
NSE’s position in India’s capital markets is a major part of the investment story. According to its IPO filing, the exchange holds about 93% of the country’s cash market and nearly all equity futures trading, alongside around 75% of equity options trading.
The NSE IPO valuation stands at 42.9 times earnings based on the upper end of its price band and earnings for the year ended March 2026. That compares with less than 24 times for US stock exchange companies, according to LSEG data cited by Yes Securities.
Nasdaq trades at 23.6 times earnings, while Intercontinental Exchange is at 21.9 times. The gap puts the pricing of the NSE offering firmly in focus as investors assess its growth prospects against its valuation.
The NSE IPO attracts over $10 billion in bids as rising participation in India’s equity markets provides part of the broader growth case. The share of equities and mutual funds in household financial savings reached 15.2% in the financial year ending March 2025, compared with 2% in 2012.
Indian brokerage Geojit Financial Services has pointed to NSE’s asset-light model, strong margins, and cash generation as factors supporting its long-term prospects.
